Ibi Zoboi

Ibi Zoboi was a National Book Award finalist for her first novel, American Street (2017), the story of a Haitian girl’s immigration experience, and her new life in an American city. The Chicago Tribune called it "a stunning, richly textured debut novel."

Her widely-acclaimed new novel, Pride (2018), is an Afro-Latino retelling of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, set in the Bushwick neighborhood of modern-day Brooklyn.

Poet, visual artist and educator D.Colin introduced Zoboi at the event.
