In today's post, NYS Writers Institute Director Paul Grondahl talks with longtime friend, UAlbany English professor, and author Edward Schwarzschild, whose latest novel In Security -- set in the world of the TSA -- is coming out in the fall.
Ed is also the author of the novel Responsible Men (2005), a San Francisco Chronicle Best Book of the Year and a BookSense Notable Pick, and the story collection The Family Diamond (2007), a collection of stories about family, love, and loss, set in and around Philadelphia.
His work has appeared in The Believer, Tin House, Fence, Virginia Quarterly Review, and the Yale Journal of Criticism, among other publications. He’s also a fellow at the New York State Writers Institute.
Ed's lengthy interview with William Kennedy, published in The Believer in 2006, was republished in Bootlegger of the Soul: The Literary Legacy of William Kennedy (2018).
